Wines by grape variety

There are different kind of grape varieties. Each variety has its own particularities. Cabernet franc reveals fine tannins and little red fruits and spices aromas. Chardonnay brings dried fruits, brioche and cirtus fruits aromas. Gewurztraminer (Alsace wines) has yellow and exotic fruits, honey, spices aromas and also litchi and rose nose. Malbec is widely cultivated in Argentina while Tempranillo is the spanish wines star. Prosecco is made from Glera whereas Barolo is made from Nebbiolo.

Red grape varieties

For instance in France, the main red grape varieties are Merlot (Bordeaux wines, Languedoc Roussillon and southwest of France), Grenache noir, Syrah (Rhone wine), Cabernet sauvignon, Carignan, Pinot noir and Gamay (Beaujolais wines).

White grape varieties

The main white grape varieties harvested in France are Ugni blanc, Chardonnay (Burgundy wines and Champagnes) and Sauvignon blanc.
