A tough grape variety that resists the cold.
Also called Pinot Bianco, Weissburgunder, Klevner.
A white variation of Pinot Noir, often similar to the characteristics of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc is a grape variety that is fond of continental climates and resists well the cold. In France, it is part of the grape varieties used in the Alsatian appellations. A region where it is vinified on its own or in blend with Auxerrois (also in Luxembourg). It brings always a touch of acidity (freshness). Widely planted throughout the world, it is also commonly found in the production of German, Italian and Swiss wines. It produces dry white wines and is also suitable for the production of sparkling wines under the Crémant d'Alsace appellation. In small quantities, it can be also used in Champagne.
