ARGENTINE WINE

Argentina is one of the most important wine countries in the New World. It has a strong domestic market combined with a growing international market. Most of the vineyards are located close to the Andes. The country is famous for its high altitude vineyards. In the Cafayate region the vineyards grow in more than 2000 metres above sea level! Malbec is the star grape variety producing fleshy, smooth red wines with warm aromas of very ripe fruit, spices and liquorice. Other important grape varieties include Bonarda, Torrontes and more internationally known Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay.
