NÉgrette

The emblematic grape variety of Fronton

Négrette

Also called as Folle Noire, Chalosse Noire, Négret de Gaillac or Pinot Saint Georges.

A black grape variety that has found its home in the Fronton appellation in South-West France. Négrette produces both red and rosé wines. The wines tend to be deeply coloured, medium-bodied, soft and perfumed. They show aromas of black fruits together with floral (violet and rose) and animal notes. In general the wines are low in tannins and acidity and therefore sometimes blended with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon to bring more structure to the wines.
