Côte de Beaune AOC

Vineyard of the Côte de Beaune

Beaune is the wine capital of Burgundy, but also the largest communal appellation in the Côte d'Or department. As prestigious as the Côte de Nuits, situated further north, the Côte de Beaune extends between Ladoix-Serrigny and Cheilly-lès-Maranges. This appellation concerns exclusively a few parcels of the Montagne de Beaune with the exception of the Premiers Crus. Covering an area of about 30 hectares, mainly brown limestone slopes mixed with clay and sand, it produces light, fruity red wines and supple, dry white wines made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay respectively. At an altitude of around 300-370 metres, Burgundy's leading grape varieties are ideally situated and account for two-thirds of the production of red wines and one-third of white wines. The appellation should not be confused with the Côte-de-Beaune-Villages appellation, which produces only red wines. Discover this Burgundian appellation of character.

Ageing potential: Three to five years

vin blanc

DRY WHITE WINE

Appearance: This white wine has a deep and lively golden colour, very elegant with a lot of brightness.

Palate: This wine seduces with its suppleness and roundness offering a nice balance. The finish is delicate, with notes of hazelnut.

Serving temperature: 12 to 13°C

REMEMBER

THE VINEYARDS OF THE CÔTE DE BAUNE APPELLATION

The Côte de Beaune AOC is a communal appellation of the Côte Beaune vineyards in the Côte d'Or. This appellation, located on the upper reaches of the Montagne de Beaune, can be followed by the name of the Climat from which the wine comes. Covering an area of about 30 hectares, mainly brown limestone slopes mixed with clay and sand, it produces light, fruity red wines and supple, dry white wines made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay respectively.

HIGHLY AROMATIC BURGUNDY WINES

The main grape variety in the Côte de Beaune is Pinot Noir for red wines and Chardonnay for white wines. On this terroir, the Pinot Noir can develop fruity aromas of strawberry or cherry, and over time notes of undergrowth or mushroom can appear. The Chardonnay, on the other hand, produces wines with white-fleshed fruit aromas accompanied by floral notes. After a few years of ageing, aromas of honey and dry fruit develop.

AFFORDABLE FINE WINES OF BURGUNDY

The Côte de Beaune AOC offers wines of exceptional quality, whose character comes from both the grape varieties and the Climat. The vintages from this communal appellation are as prestigious as that of the surrounding appellations of the Côte de Nuits: Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot, Romanée, Musigny and many more. Moreover, the wines of the Côte de Beaune are more affordable than these illustrious appellations.

The Côte de Beaune AOC offers wines to save for fine cuisine that will appeal particularly to gastronomy lovers.
