Chassagne-Montrachet AOC
Chassagne-Montrachet is located in the Côte de Beaune sub-region of Burgundy. It is famous for producing some outstanding white wines from Chardonnay. Also a smaller quantity of red wine from Pinot Noir is produced. Le Montrachet is the most famous Grand Cru that Chassagne-Montrachet shares with another appellation called Puligny-Montrachet. Le Montrachet is widely considered to be best white wine in the world. The white wines from Chassagne-Montrachet are full bodied and opulent in style and they often show some ripe white fruit, acacia and hazelnut aromas. They can be an ideal partner for lobster or some Asian dishes such as curries. The red wines are in general quite fleshy and concentrated with a bouquet of red fruits, spices and some animal notes when aged.
