Auxey-Duresses AOC
Vineyard of the Côte de Beaune
The vineyards of the Côte de Beaune, in the Côte d'Or, give birth to great wines of historical and international renown, including Auxey-Duresses.
In the heart of the Côte de Beaune, along the Route des Grands Crus, the Auxey-Duresses appellation is located between Meursault and Monthelie. The Auxey-Duresses AOC is a Village appellation of the Côte de Beaune which has existed since 1937. A former dependency of the Abbey of Cluny, the village of Auxey-Duresses is a place where vines have been planted since the Celtic and Gallo-Roman periods. The vineyards extend over approximately 150 hectares of vines classified as Premier Cru between Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Exposed to the East and South-East, the vines are planted on stony and clay-limestone soils, with a large presence of marl. The wines of Auxey-Duresses seduce with their balance and their aromatic richness. With their brilliant colour, the red wines of Auxey-Duresses harmoniously blend fruity aromas with floral notes. Refined, lively and rich, the white wines reveal notes of biscuit and flint. Over the years, these Premiers Crus of Burgundy gain in roundness and generosity.
