Languedoc is a relatively young wine region, and its tenure compared to the larger regions translates to less reputation, less demand, and ultimately less price inflation than other classic regions. The secret? This is due purely to renown: the quality is great!
Languedoc-Roussillon is the largest wine producing region in France. The region is enjoying Mediterranean climate, characterised by mild winters, hot and dry summers and low rainfall. Due to its considerable size, the region is a veritable mosaic of terroirs and grape varieties creating a vast palette of wine styles. In the past Languedoc-Roussillon region was only known for its lesser quality table wines, but in the last couple decades the reputation has been changing and now the region is also known as a home for some high quality producers as Clos des Fées, Grange des Pères, Mas de Daumas Gassac, Montcalmès and Peyre-Rose. The region produces some exceptional red wines at low prices. Fruity and medium to full-bodied red wines that are worthy of the greatest gourmet tables!
