Côtes Catalanes is one of the most important appellations of the Roussillon region in the estearn foothills of Pyrenees. It covers a considerable area of production and a wide range of grape varieties are permitted. The red and rosé wines are produced mainly of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Carignan and Cinsault varieties. The red wines vary from light, simple to more powerful and full-bodied ones. The white wines are mostly made of Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris and Macabeo varieties. The whites are rich but delicate and they show a beautiful freshness due to the refreshing sea breezes in the vineyards.
