Traditional Mulled Wine
Fancy a comforting hot drink to share? Discover our recipe for traditional mulled wine. There's nothing like a traditional Alsatian mulled wine with intoxicating aromas to brighten up those short winter days. A homemade mulled wine!

Which wine to use for mulled wine?
Choose light, gourmet red wines for your mulled wine. Choose a Pinot Noir from Alsace or a red wine from Loire. Reserve top-of-the-range wines for pretty tables and indulge yourself with simple, young wines. It would be a pity to use a complex, old wine or a grand cru, as the ingredients in mulled wine bring a variety of aromas that add to those of the wine. A wine costing less than £10 from our selection will do the trick.

Alsatian cakes with homemade mulled wine
Enjoy your homemade mulled wine with Alsatian sweets, to keep with tradition! Gingerbread, shortbread, the famous stollen and bredele. Bredele, bredle, braedele, or bredala or Winachtsbredele are little baked biscuits made for the festive season and eaten over the following months, as long as you don't eat them all at Christmas! These little Alsatian cakes come in all sorts of flavours: chocolate, apricot, aniseed, cherry, walnut, and so on. The best thing is to make them yourself, just like mulled wine!
