This protected geographical indication (the new name for vins de pays) is located in the Ain, Savoie and Haute-Savoie. It produces mainly white wine (66%), red wine and the rare rosé. The grape varieties used for the red wine are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay, Merlot, Mondeuse, Pinot Noir and Poulsard, while the white wines are made from Aligoté, Chasselas, Jacquère, Marsanne, Chardonnay, Roussanne, Sauvignon and Viognier. These wines, whether white, red or rosé, are fruity and easy to drink young. They offer a nice balance of vivacity and roundness.
