A wine to be forgotten in the cellar for future excitement, now with an intense ruby colour, herbaceous sensation, spicy and balsamic notes. Enveloping and persistent. Present tannins and controlled acidity herald excellent prospects.more reviews

"One of the best Sociando we have seen in a long time!” J. Suckling
Château Sociando-Mallet is located on an exceptional terroir north of Pauillac, as an Haut-Médoc appellation. The vines are planted on a terroir of gravel from the Gunz era and a subsoil of clay and limestone. 90% aged in new barrels for 12 months, the result is a silky and intense wine that will delight wine connoisseurs and beginners. A non-classified wine, but extraordinary. On the nose, complex aromas of blackcurrant, dark chocolate and leather with hints of vanilla and clove. A structured and balanced palate, with lots of freshness, depth and well-integrated oak. It has good ageing potential. We will discover its full potential with a little patience!

As a Bordeaux fan, you must have at least one bottle of this château, which is renowned for its consistency. On the other hand, you need to be patient to tame its power.

A Sociando Mallet in its characteristic style. Dense wines with good length on the palate.
The 2018 vintage is still a little young, and should be forgotten for at least 3 to 5 years in the cellar, in my opinion.
Enjoy with game or meat in sauce.

CHÂTEAU SOCIANDO-MALLET

With a gravelly terroir similar in nature to that of Montrose and Latour, Sociando-Mallet is however missing from any classification, but it has achieved the Cru Classé standard. It has to be said that the talented Jean Gautreau, the tireless artisan working to revive these wines, is there for a reason! Having bought back the estate in 1969, this prominent figure in the Médoc has not been mistaken and knew how to enhance this outstanding terroir for the best. Jean Gautreau then left at the end of 2019, leaving his daughter with an estate of huge fame amongst its fans. Today, Sociando-Mallet totals 95 hectares and produces vigorous, intense red wines with a soft oakiness that are clearly made for keeping. One, maybe even two generations can enjoy the same vintage!
