Arranged in terraces and hillsides, the Lirac appellation is concentrated on the right bank of the Rhône river where it faces Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A distinctive terroir, Lirac is the oldest Côtes du Rhône cru to produce all three colors. The red and the rosé wines are made of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvèdre grape varieties. The white wine is produced mainly from Clairette, Bourboulenc and Grenache Blanc. The wines are recognized above all of the quality of the red wines which combines undeniable power with an equally obvious balance. The wines are full-bodied, but without any heaviness. They can be drunk for up to eight years after bottling.
