Barsac AOC
The great protected designation of origin of Bordeaux is very similar to the Sauternes appellation. These wines are more nervous and heady, with a little less smoothness but more fruitiness. The appellation produces sweet to syrupy white wines which are marked by an intense and deep nose with a warm and elegant bouquet. The aromatic palette is of a rare richness and harmoniously mixes notes of honey, toast, almond, oriental spices, dried apricot, mango and white peach. The grape varieties used are Muscadelle, Sauvignon and Semillon, the latter taking particularly well the noble rot developed by the fungus called "Botrytis cinerea". Combined with a manual harvest and successive passes through the vines to harvest the overripe grapes, the Château Coutet estate makes incomparable wines.
