Entre-deux-Mers AOC
Entre-deux-Mers is a vast appellation between the two rivers Garonne and Dordogne in Bordeaux. Its name comes from this geographical feature and its oceanic influence. Vines have been cultivated in this region since the Middle Ages, brought by the Benedictine monks who made its reputation. Entre-deux-Mers produces dry white wines recognized for their freshness, their vivacity and whose flagship grape varieties are Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle. The terroir of the appellation is very varied, thanks to its diversity of soils and exposures. Therefore, the resulting wines have different aromatic profiles. Although Entre-deux-Mers is mainly known for its dry white wines, the wine-growing area is very favourable to the development of the botrytis fungus, which produces sweet wines.
