Fargues is the sister chateau of Yquem and whilst never quite reaching the heights of its illustrious sibling, it is never the less an outstanding Sauternes in its own right.more reviews

"Chateau de Fargues is a fantastic wine for the vintage. It builds gloriously in the mouth toward its tender praline and honey finish, which lingers long in the mouth." Robert Parker
After a complicated harvest - hail on 21 July destroyed 60% of the harvest - this vintage delivers a surprising wine with promising complexity. This Sauternes offers a lovely full-body, with a liveliness delivered both by the acidity of the terroir and the character of the vintage. Powerful but incredibly elegant, it reveals such a rich unctuousness, it's almost syrupy. It gives us complex, delicious aromas of citrus, exotic fruits and juniper, along with toast and hints of spice. The Fargues signature style is perhaps in the ageing of this delicious bitter orange flavour that it brings to us. A great wine designed for ageing!

Spectacular Sauternes with a good CPR and a few years in bottle. If it is already a winery that does not fail, imagine with 20 years in bottle, a real marvel. Perfect acidity and sweetness!

A Sauternes worthy of a Yquem but more affordable in terms of price! A delight that can be enjoyed now, and which can of course age even longer.

A nectar of great art! A round Sauternes, with aromatic complexity matched only by its length on the palate. In short, you'll have an exceptional time, provided you know how to appreciate this style of wine.

Twenty years is a wonderful age for a Sauternes, especially a Château de Fargues. Everything you would expect from such a wine, and even more.

Compared to the 1998, which was much more balanced, in 2004 the saffron did not predominate nearly as much as in 1998! I enjoyed it very much! Definitely worth picking up.
