Located in south-eastern Sicily, near the town of Noto and the Tyrrhenian Sea (province of Syracuse), the Tenuta Zisola is nicknamed the ‘Garden of Eden’. Certified organic , the estate is home not only to vineyards but also to olive groves, almond trees and citrus orchards. This rich diversity is reflected in the estate’s wines of exceptional quality. At the heart of the historic birthplace of Nero d’Avola, Sicily’s principal indigenous red grape variety , the 24 hectares of vineyards planted with Catarratto, Grillo, Nero d’Avola, Petit Verdot and Syrah produce a range of fresh and elegant DOC and IGT red and white wines. Influenced by the maritime climate and limestone-rich soils, the wines benefit from viticultural techniques that are both traditional and modern: the ancestral local ‘alberello’ system (no rows but a single stake to support each vine, offering natural protection from the sun and wind) and a superb winery, equipped with stainless steel vats, optimal temperature control and around 350 oak barrels. Owned since 2003 by the Mazzei family, a historic wine producer in Tuscany, Tenuta Zisola is committed to promoting Sicily as a land of great wines.
