Villa Maria is the most awarded New Zealand family estate in the country. It all started in 1961, when Georges Fistonich rented a vineyard of less than one hectare in Mangere, south of Auckland, and made his first wine. Since then, Villa Maria has grown to become one of the best known estates in the country. The pioneering spirit has always been present, notably with the decision in 2001 to be the first domaine to use only screw caps, convinced that the quality of their wines is better preserved in this way. Several times named “Winery of the Year” in New Zealand and acclaimed by the international press, Villa Maria has vineyards in the best wine regions of the country. Marlborough remains one of the best-known regions in the country, where you can find the best Sauvignon Blanc in the world.
