For four generations, the Vietti family has been producing its own wines in Castiglione Falletto. In 1961, Alfredo Currado was among the first to vinify grapes from individual plots, all cultivated by him. While other Barolos have long passed their peak, these traditional-style wines are just beginning to blossom and gain aromatic complexity. In Barolo, part of the must is often removed before fermentation (salasso). This further concentrates the extracts from grapes that are already rich in themselves. Depending on the vintage, maceration lasts up to 40 days. The prime Rocche plot gave Vietti its first terroir Barolo, followed by a superb collection of other terroir wines. Together, they form a unique range of Barolo's varied nuances.
