Château Tour Prignac, located in the commune of Prignac-en-Médoc, refers to the towers that adorn the château and was named shortly after its acquisition by the Castel family. It is the northernmost of the family's properties. The entire estate covers 300 hectares of woods and meadows. With its 144 hectares of vines, Château Tour Prignac is the largest single vineyard in the Médoc. Replanted, the Cabernets now benefit from the warmest plots to perfect their ripeness. Produced from a classic terroir in the northern Médoc region, Tour Prignac wines express beautiful finesse. The grape varieties at Château Tour Prignac are 55% Cabernet Sauvignon , 42% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. The terroirs are mainly composed of clay soils where Merlot is grown and clay-limestone soils where Cabernet Sauvignon is grown. The vineyard is worked with respect for the specific characteristics of the soil, and the grape varieties have been planted according to the different terroirs and orientation of the vines. Planting density is high, at 7,200 vines per hectare. Château Tour Prignac belongs to the Castel family. The family's properties are an expression of the Castel family's expertise, passion for terroirs and commitment to responsible winemaking.
