Founded in 2001 in Scansano, a small village in southern Tuscany, the Terenzi estate was born out of entrepreneur Florio Terenzi’s love for the Maremma, a vast, unspoilt natural area on the Tyrrhenian coast, a two-hour drive from Florence and Rome. In 2004, he opened a modern 3,000-square-metre winery on former farmland. Now run by his three children, Balbino, Federico and Francesca Romana Terenzi, the 150-hectare family estate (comprising 60 hectares of vineyards and 14 of olive groves), planted with indigenous and international grape varieties – from Vermentino to Viognier , from Syrah to Merlot , though with a particular focus on Sangiovese, the essential local variety – has become one of the leading names in the new Maremma wine region. In just a few decades, the Terenzis have notably contributed to enhancing the prestige of the Maremma’s iconic appellation: the DOCG Morellino di Scansano. Combined with modern production techniques, the region’s typical varieties reveal their depth of expression and richness across the extensive Terenzi range, telling the story of a profoundly authentic Tuscan terroir.
