Situated in a remote corner of south-eastern Tuscany, in the Orcia Valley near Sarteano, where Tuscany meets the neighbouring regions of Umbria and Lazio, the Tenuta di Trinoro estate produces captivating red wines , characterised by their aromatic richness, complexity, elegance and excellent ageing potential. Inspired by Bordeaux wines, the estate’s founder, Andrea Franchetti, brings his interpretation of the Bordeaux style to his Tuscan lands. At the heart of Tenuta di Trinoro—acquired in the early 1980s and planted a decade later as a mosaic of vineyards with distinctive characteristics—this visionary envisions a collection of great terroir-driven wines. Classified as IGT Toscana, his range of superb reds made from the Bordeaux grape varieties Cabernet Franc , Merlot , Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot (with Tenuta di Trinoro as the star) won over critics from the very first vintages. Complemented by a 100% Semillon white, the Franchetti wines of Tenuta di Trinoro are now part of the Tuscan wine elite, continuing the tradition of the Super Tuscans—those bold wines which, by breaking away from the classic appellation framework, fully express the potential and perpetual renewal of Italian winemaking.
