Owned by the Swiss family-run group Marrussia Beverages, an international producer and distributor of wines, sakes and spirits, Tamada tells part of the story and legacy passed down by Frederik Paulsen, a businessman and adventurer. During an expedition, he found himself stranded with a Georgian man, who spoke at length about his country’s rich wine heritage. This encounter marked the beginning of a new venture, centred on Georgian wines, epitomised by the Tamada range, whose name refers to the master of ceremonies at traditional Georgian celebrations. Located in the Vardisubani vineyard, at the heart of the great Kakheti wine region, the Tamada estate produces authentic and complex wines (some of which are vinified in qvevri, earthenware amphorae buried in the ground typical of Georgia), combining respect for traditional expertise, expression of the terroir and modern winemaking techniques.
