It is in New Zealand , at the top of the South Island, in the prestigious Marlborough region known for the richness of its terroir, that the Rimapere vineyard has produced two real gems of fruity wines.Located in the north-east of the South Island, the Marlborough region is home to the country's largest vineyard. Although these lands have only been producing quality wine for 40 years, Marlborough has now gained international renown thanks to the finesse of its Sauvignon Blancs.Strong sunshine combined with cold air from the South Pole, all on gravelly but vigorous soil, makes it ideal for growing a high-acidity grape variety such as Sauvignon Blanc . As for red wine , the stony soil and cool climate of this region are also conducive to the aromatic expression of Pinot Noir .It is in the heart of this incomparable terroir, near the Wairau River, that the 24 hectares of the Rimapere vineyard are located. Purchased by Benjamin and Ariane de Rothschild in 2012, it is now managed by Anne Escalle. The name Rimapere means "five arrows" in the Maori language, paying double homage to the Rothschild family emblem and traditional New Zealand culture.
