Poggio al Tesoro, meaning ‘the hills of treasure’, is one of the pioneering estates of the Bolgheri appellation. Located in southern Tuscany, between the hills and the Tyrrhenian Sea, this region—renowned for its wines of exceptional quality—has become the second home of Marilisa Allegrini, a leading figure in the Italian wine industry, originally from Veneto. Founded in 2001 by the Allegrini family, then taken over in 2023 by Marilisa and her daughters, Carlotta and Caterina, as part of the new Marilisa Allegrini group (which also includes the vineyards and hospitality venues of San Polo in Montecino and Villa delle Torre in Valpolicella), the estate covers 100 hectares; of which 64 are planted with various grape varieties typical of Bolgheri ( Cabernet Sauvignon , Merlot , Cabernet Franc , Petit Verdot...), spread across four sites rich in clay and pebbles: Via Bolgherese, Chiesina di San Giuseppe, Le Sondraie and Valle di Cerbaia. Focusing on a range of reds and whites considered to be the region’s grands crus , the Poggio al Tesoro estate is renowned for the quality and consistency of its wines, whose various nuances—both contemporary and traditional—maintain a high level of balance and stylistic integrity.
