After working on several vintages in wineries in France , South Africa and California, Chris and Andrea chose to settle in the Swartland region of South Africa, convinced that the granite and schist terroirs and old vineyards of Swartland had the potential to produce very good wines. Mullineux was established in 2007. In a very short time, the winery has established itself as one of South Africa's most famous wine brands. By 2020, the winery had received thirty 5-star ratings from Platter's South African Wine Guide, as well as the unprecedented Platter's Winery of the Year award four times. In addition, Andrea was named International Winemaker of the Year 2016 by Wine Enthusiast, and in 2016, Chris and Andrea were named South African Winemakers of the Year by Tim Atkin.
