The son and grandson of winegrowers from Tours, Lionel Gosseaume grew up on the family estate in Choussy, between the Loire and Sologne (in the Loir-et-Cher department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region). A stone’s throw from the prestigious Châteaux of the Loire and at the heart of the small agricultural region known as ‘Sologne viticole’, the Lionel Gosseaume estate covers 35 hectares of land of high environmental value, situated on the slopes of Touraine (AOP Touraine) and in 5 of the 9 communes of the new Touraine-Oisly appellation (Choussy, the family’s historic commune, Thenay, Oisly, Sassay and Contres). At the heart of this rich biodiversity, Lionel Gosseaume produces a range of wines – whites, reds and rosés – that are highly aromatic, fresh and powerful, reflecting a long-term vision to, generation after generation, help people discover and recognise the quality of the terroir of this eastern Touraine. A carefully considered commitment for this agricultural engineer by trade, who was swept up by a passion for viticulture as he approached his forties. In 2007, he added new plots to the land cultivated by his grandfather and became a full-time winegrower. Since then, he has dedicated himself to bringing out the best of this unique terroir, where Sauvignon Blanc and Gamay Noir thrive, producing fine wines from Touraine and Touraine-Oisly.
