A pioneering vineyard in the production of Albariño—a Galician grape variety responsible for some of Spain ’s finest white wines—the La Val estate is also one of the historic founders of the Rías Baixas appellation (which emerged on the international scene in the late 1990s). Owned by CVNE since 2023 (a historic wine company from the prestigious region of La Rioja ), La Val now comprises 94 hectares of vineyards, spread across four major estates within the Rías Baixas DO: Vilachán, in the O Rosal sub-region (one of the vineyards closest to the Atlantic), Taboexa, Arantei and Porto, in the Condado de Tea sub-region. Located in south-western Galicia, on the Portuguese border, the winery combines local character in its wines (notably by cultivating the indigenous grape varieties Albariño, Treixadura and Loureira), new winemaking processes (stainless steel, ceramic and concrete egg-shaped vats), and high quality and safety standards (British Retail Consortium Food Safety certification). A perfect balance between tradition and innovation, embodied by the vineyard’s director, Olivier Weiss, named Winemaker of the Year 2025 by renowned critic Tim Atkin. This recognition honours a close-knit team united by shared convictions, rooted in biodiversity, ecosystem balance and meticulous care for the vineyard.
