In 1880, Edouard Amouroux acquired a vineyard benefiting from an exceptional exposure in the town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape . Leaning against one of these plots, a small oratory dedicated to St Marc and dating from the 18th Century, watches over the vineyard and is at the origin of this name which has become legendary. The legend was born... And since 1926, the bottle has always been signed with the same label created by the Amouroux family. The Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes comes from a 25 hectare vineyard, a perfect balance between the 3 great soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, rolled pebbles, saffron and limestone chips.
