The Il Poggione estate was founded in the late 1800s. Lavinio Franceschi, the owner, decided to visit the region and fell in love with the landscapes and the people who lived there. The estate was one of the first to market Brunello di Montalcino in the early 1900s and is one of the founding members of the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium.
