The Giovanni Rosso estate, led by Davide Rosso, embodies a demanding vision of Italian viticulture, bridging the gap between Barolo and new volcanic horizons. Having built its reputation in Piedmont, the family has extended its commitment to excellence to Sicily, on the slopes of Mount Etna, at the foot of the Montedolce volcano. On this high-altitude terroir (around 750 m), composed of volcanic sandy soils, the estate mainly cultivates Nerello Mascalese and Carricante, alongside indigenous grape varieties. The vines are trained using the goblet or Guyot methods, depending on the plot, with the aim of preserving the identity of each micro-terroir. The style sought remains true to the estate’s philosophy: precise, straightforward and elegant wines that subtly convey the mineral power and tension of the volcano. On Mount Etna, Giovanni Rosso ranks among the estates that most accurately reveal the uniqueness of this extreme landscape, balancing power and delicacy.
