The Dominio de la Granadilla has been established for generations in Nava del Rey. This family estate cultivates approximately 70 hectares in the municipal districts of Nava del Rey and Villaverde de Medina, in the province of Valladolid. The vineyard is planted with the local Verdejo grape variety, but also with Sauvignon Blanc. The vines, of Verdejo and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties, grow on stony soil, rich in calcium and magnesium. This terroir gives the wines a certain complexity and unrivalled quality. The plots are located at an altitude of approximately 750 metres. They are subject to a continental climate with Atlantic influences.
The Dominio de la Granadilla is located in the wine region of Castilla y León. It is the largest region in Spain, bringing together different areas of northwestern Spain. It is also one of the country's Autonomous Communities. The Castilla y León region has a relief made up mainly of mountain ranges. Most of the region has a continental climate with hot, dry summers and fairly cold winters with heavy frosts. Various grape varieties are planted in this region, the main ones being Verdejo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo. Covering almost 40,000 hectares, the region of Castilla y León today produces quality wines, despite a not very fertile land. These grape varieties are used to make blended wines or single-variety wines. The wines of this wine region reveal spicy, minty or nutty aromas on the nose. Sometimes, they offer an olfactory bouquet marked by aromas of lime, hay or green apple.
The wine region of Rueda is located in the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León. It is an appellation of white, red and rosé wines, as well as liqueur and sparkling wines. The Rueda appellation covers an area of more than 10,000 hectares. Located in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, on the plateau of Castilla y León, the Rueda region is south of Valladolid and northwest of Madrid. The vines grow at high altitude, up to 850 metres. The region is famous for its white wines made from the Verdejo grape. Apart from Verdejo, other grape varieties grown in the region include Albarino and Tempranillo. In addition, Sauvignon Blanc has been gaining in popularity in recent years.
