Developed since 1905 by the Vic family, the Preignes le Vieux estate bears witness to the thousand-year history of Languedoc wines. The Preignes le Vieux estate was built around the Roman ruins of the "villa preixanum", dating from 118 BC. The remains of amphorae that have been found bear witness to the intense wine-growing activity in Preignes since ancient times. Its location was strategic, at the heart of trade, thanks to its proximity to Agde and Ensérune, ancient ports on the Mediterranean basin, and its connection to the Via Domitia. This road, linking the Rhône to the Pyrenees, brought prosperity to the vineyards of the "Narbonnaise" region and its wines were exported throughout the Roman Empire. Today, the vineyard covers more than 270 hectares of land around one of the oldest châteaux in Béziers.
