Domaines Ott is an emblematic name for the wines of Provence. It comprises three wine estates: Clos Mireille and Château de Selle in the AOC Côtes de Provence, and Château Romassan in the AOC Bandol. After a wine tour of France in 1896, Marcel Ott acquired these properties. His ambition was to produce Provence Fine Wines from noble grape varieties, revealing an exceptional terroir. To achieve this, the agricultural engineer decided to restore the vineyards ravaged by phylloxera. More than a century later, Christian and Jean-François Ott, worthy heirs of these emblematic houses, continue to keep their ancestor's passion for wine alive. Domaines Ott joined the Louis Roederer Champagne House in 2004.
To produce their wines, which are made with respect for nature, the Ott family works the terroir of the estates, which cover more than 250 hectares, with rigour and know-how. Approximately 230 hectares are planted, while the rest are left fallow. The vines are worked as naturally as possible and are not treated with any chemicals. In case of disease, the owners rely on treatments based on sulphur and Bordeaux mixture. In addition, to preserve the soil and the unique terroir on which the vineyards are established, they have been reorganised into terraces. This is a way of encouraging the natural drainage of the soil!
