The Domaine is established in the village of Mercurey, the flagship of the Côte Chalonnaise appellations: a hundred years of history and passion for four generations of winegrowers. It was first of all Gabriel Trémeaux who founded the estate at the beginning of the 20th century. Wine was then only part of its production, supplemented by breeding and cereal cultivation. The trauma of the First World War was terrible, and Gabriel, taken prisoner for five long years, necessarily had to leave the management of the estate to his wife Marthe. Fortunately, she turned out to be a true "woman of the land", adoring above all the work of the vineyard: plowing on horseback, pruning and manual harvesting. During the following decades, Gabriel and Marthe formed a passionate tandem in the head of Domaine Trémeaux. Their son Georges gradually took over in the middle of the century, bringing him into the era of modernity and quality: arrival of the tractor in the vineyards, abandonment of annex crops to focus exclusively on the production of Mercurey AOC. Georges' perfectionism in the careful work of the vines allowed his son Gilles, now at the head of the Domaine, to concentrate on the work of the wine in the cellar, with in particular the generalization of vinification in oak barrels. Since 1998, Gilles has been associated with his son Nicolas, whose dynamism and taste for contact delight all customers, happy to see that taste and quality are there for a long time at Domaine Trémeaux!
