Located at the foot of the Monts de la Madeleine, the 200 hectares of the Côte Roannaise AOP are one of the first vineyards in the Loire Valley. On the granite foothills of the Massif Central, Gamay St Romain peaks between 400 and 500 metres. This volcanic Loire region also includes the Côtes du Forez, Côtes d'Auvergne and Saint-Pourçain. The family estate dates back to the 17th century and has been passed down from generation to generation ever since. In 1996, when Stéphane took over, the estate covered 12 hectares. With the help of his wife, Carine, they converted the estate to organic farming and then to biodynamics. Very attached to the Côte Roannaise, they replanted beautiful hillsides with vines. The estate's team consists of eight people. Up to 15 people work in the vineyards during the season and the grapes are harvested by hand. Because almost everything happens in the vineyard, the choice of organic and biodynamic farming methods was obvious. The aim is to strengthen the plants and preserve the soil while respecting the life cycles. This precision farming uses only natural products applied at the right time. Observation of the cycles and knowledge of the terroirs are essential.
