A MUST IN CHABLIS WINES

Since 1850, the Laroche family has been producing Chablis wines at Domaine Laroche. This family business was taken over by Michel Laroche, representing the 5th generation, in 1967. Although the vineyard covered nearly 6 hectares at the end of the 1960s, it now covers more than 90 hectares. With its know-how anchored in the present day, Domaine Laroche nevertheless strives to enhance its exceptional winegrowing heritage. Since its installation on the property, the Laroche family has sought out the best terroirs to produce exceptional Chablis.

The estate's vines grow on Kimmeridgian soils, which are renowned for their mineral character, providing flinty, floral aromas and flavours that are both lively and delicate. These vines allow Domaine Laroche to produce various exceptional Premiers Crus such as Les Beauroys, with an exceptional mineral finesse, Les Vaillons produced from old vines on a sunny hillside or Les Fourchaumes made from very old vines. Domaine Laroche also produces Grands Crus such as Les Blanchots, appreciated for its mineral finesse and longevity. Thanks to its know-how and the quality of its wines, the Domaine Laroche is noticed by the specialised press such as the Revue du Vin de France, Burghound or Parker.

PHILOSOPHY OF THE DOMAINE

Domaine Laroche is part of a global approach to responsible and sustainable viticulture. This strategy is mainly reflected in the adoption of agroecological methods. Thus, the maintenance of the vineyard is carried out by taking into account the relationship between the plant (soil, physiology, climate) and the environment. This method optimises the natural resistance to pests and diseases. At the same time, treatments are reduced as much as possible. Michel Laroche has his own specifications based on natural soil work. No herbicides, insecticides or anti-rot products are used on the estate. Michel Laroche recommends natural treatments to help the plant find its balance: valerian and nettle-based treatments, plant cover, etc. Ecological methods are also applied to the winery: reduction of inputs, use of rainwater, reduction of energy consumption, etc.

A VALUABLE KNOW-HOW IN THE PRODUCTION OF LANGUEDOC WINES

In the early 1990s, Michel Laroche decided to apply his Burgundian know-how to the Languedoc region through Mas la Chevalière in the Orb Valley. The adventure began with the discovery of the exceptional vineyards of Peyroli and Roqua Blanca. Perched between 400 and 500 metres above sea level, the first vineyard was planted at the end of the 1980s and consists solely of Chardonnay. Its clay-limestone soil, combined with the cool night-time temperatures, makes it possible to produce excellent white wines in essence. The second is made up of small parcels with a wide variety of microclimates. The Roqua Blanca vineyard, which covers almost 24.5 hectares, is planted with black grape varieties such as Grenache and Syrah.

Today, the estate produces modern and particularly expressive wines, with an emphasis on fruit. To collect, to taste, but above all to discover, these wines will satisfy the finest palates and accompany various recipes!
