AN ESTATE LOCATED ON HILLSIDES RANKED AMONG THE BEST IN THE POUILLY-FUMÉ

Located between the communes of Tracy-sur-Loire, Saint-Andelain and Pouilly-sur-Loire, the Domaine Jean-Pierre Bailly produces wine in the heart of the Pouilly Fumé vineyard. Run by Patrice following the death of his father Jean-Pierre in 2000, this property covers an area of approximately 18 hectares. It is with passion that this winemaker takes care of the vines growing on the best slopes of the Pouilly-Fumé vineyard.

At Domaine Jean-Pierre Bailly, the vines intended for the production of Pouilly-Fumé wines are from Sauvignon grapes. Aged between 10 and 40 years, they are cultivated in the communes of Pouilly-sur-Loire, Tracy-sur-Loire and Saint-Andelain. They grow on Kimmeridgian marl, clay and limestone soils. The wines of the estate are fruity, marked by a bouquet characterised by aromas of white flowers.

Today, the estate is renowned for its Pouilly-Fumé appreciated for its fruity aromas. Some of the cuvées have even won awards in various competitions. These Pouilly-Fumé wines can be enjoyed as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a main course of white meat, fish or shellfish.

A POUILLY-SUR-LOIRE AOC WINE NOTICED BY THE SPECIALISED PRESS

In addition to its Pouilly-Fumé wines, Domaine Jean-Pierre Bailly also produces white wines in the Pouilly-sur-Loire appellation. Light and fragrant, the wines of this appellation are known to be easy to drink and fresh. They are made only from the Chasselas grape variety grown on four main types of soil: Villiers and Barrois limestone, sandy clay or clay sand, flinty soil and Kimmeridgian marl rich in marine fossils. Chasselas is grown on more than 1,300 hectares spread over seven communes in the Nièvre.

At Domaine Jean-Pierre Bailly, the Chasselas vines grow on Kimmeridgian marl. Supple and fresh on the palate, the Pouilly-sur-Loire of the estate is of an assured elegance, which has enabled it to be noticed by the specialist press.

CUVÉES FROM THE COTEAUX DU GIENNOIS APPELLATION

Patrice Bailly does not limit himself to his Pouilly-Fumé and Pouilly-sur-Loire wines. In fact, this winemaker also produces in the Coteaux du Giennois appellation. A neighbour of the Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre AOCs, the vineyards of this AOC are located in the northern part of the Loire Valley. The vines are generally planted on clay-limestone soils. At Domaine Jean-Pierre Bailly, Patrice produces red, white and rosé Coteaux du Giennois. The wines are made from Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes. The vines are grown on flinty clay soils.
