The Disznókő estate owes its name to the Disznókő vineyard, which was first mentioned in writing in 1413. The name Disznókő means "boar rock", referring to the shape of the large volcanic rock located in the heart of this vineyard or, according to other geographers, to the shape of the hill on which the vines are located. Since its purchase in 1992 by AXA Millésimes, the Disznókő estate now comprises a single block of historic vineyards located around the property's cellars. Having belonged to influential aristocratic families for centuries, these vineyards are known for their remarkable terroirs, which produce great wines. With its expertise and experience, Disznókő is now recognised as being at the forefront of the renaissance of the great wines of Tokaj.
