Founded in 1887, Domaine des Petits Quarts holds a special place in the Loire Valley wine landscape. Owned by the same family since its creation, this estate is the jewel in the crown of the Layon Valley's sweet and syrupy wines. Jean Pascal Godineau, the current owner (4th generation), has always believed in the Chenin grape variety for producing sweet and dessert wines, to the point that his 1996 vintage was voted the best sweet wine in the world. Exceptional terroirs and exposures located in Bonnezeaux in the communes of Faye d'Anjou and Bellevigne en Layon. Domaine des Petits Quarts has been collecting gold medals at international competitions for many years. While it is the winemaker who enhances what nature gives him, it must be said that on this estate, nature is generous and benevolent. The 26 hectares, including 13 hectares of Bonnezeaux, are planted on "purple and grey schist" and benefit from a magnificent vein of phantites, which gives these wines their unrivalled aromas. In early 2022, five friends and wine lovers joined forces to take over this estate with the ambition of continuing this tradition while developing its offering. And it is with a new cellar master, Maxime Delhumeau, that we want to give these 26 hectares of Chenin its full expression, from crémant to sweet wines, including various dry Chenin vintages. And we are delighted to say that the medals are rolling in!
