To the north-west, not far from the forest of Saint-Claud, where Montaigne had led the king to "court the stag". The Valladoux is, among the vines on the edge of a plateau overlooking the Lidoire, a 17th century residence dressed in ampelopsis; it was owned by the Franc de Ferrières and belonged to Pierre Loti's wife; the latter stayed there many times; he even built a tower in the troubadour style, with crenellations of pink brick. After a first chapter of a quarter of a century as a winegrower in Saint- Emilion , Michel Puzio decided to start a new adventure in his native Périgord. He acquired Valladoux in May 2017 as his family home. With his children, Nathalie and Laurent, they decided to restore the building and give the vineyard its letters of nobility. This is how the 2018 harvest was born, with the desire to make the best wine possible. Like the Montaigne estate, the Valladoux is one of those writers' residences where a precious nectar was produced. Pierre Loti left a lasting impression on the site and Michel and Laurent Puzio, with humility and high standards, are keen to continue the story through their wine.
