Although the creation of the "Crémant de Bordeaux" appellation is relatively recent (1990), the history of sparkling wines in the region dates back more than a century. It was at Cru la Maqueline, in 1892, that Nathaniel Johnston began experiments in the champagnisation of Bordeaux wines. The first wines produced using traditional methods were marketed under the name "Royal Mousseux Médoc". Under the impetus of Philippe Castel, the estate is reviving this tradition more than 120 years after Nathaniel Johnston's initiative by launching its Crémant de Bordeaux. A rare estate Crémant, Cru la Maqueline's Crémant de Bordeaux benefits from 24 months of ageing on slats (compared to the 9 months required by the Crémant de Bordeaux specifications). Cru la Maqueline's Crémant de Bordeaux is a Brut Nature, zero dosage, Terra Vitis and HVE certified. It has a unique profile among Crémant de Bordeaux wines, offering finesse and tension for lovers of pure sensations. Cru la Maqueline belongs to the Castel family's estates. The family estates are an expression of the Castel family's expertise, passion for the terroirs and commitment to responsible practices.
