Planted in the heart of the Cirque de Labeil at an altitude of some 450 metres, the Clos Maïa vines grow mainly on the limestone scree of the Larzac. It is the climate that has been decisive. Rainfall well above the regional average, combined with particularly well-drained soils, provides the vines with a constant but never excessive supply of water. The altitude of the vines offers cooler temperatures than elsewhere in the Terrasses du Larzac, which is also reflected in the wines. This makes it the ideal place for organic farming, which is essential for restoring life and vibrancy to the wines. Proof of this renewed balance can be seen in the grasses that grow naturally, creating life in the heart of the vineyards. The lunar cycles are respected and vinification is carried out without excess, using indigenous yeasts to allow the terroirs to express themselves.
