The Clos de Los Siete, where the wine of the same name is produced, is located about 100km south of Mendoza. This exceptional wine is produced in a remarkable vineyard, nestled in one of the best terroirs in Argentina. It extends in a single block, in the Uco valley, at the foot of the Andes. The Clos de Los Siete vineyard benefits from exceptional conditions. It benefits from the alchemy between four elements that are often difficult to reconcile in the same place, except in this Argentine terroir. This Argentine wine is made on an exceptional terroir made up of a generous soil, combining rolled pebbles, sand and clay. The vine plants sink their roots one metre deep into the gravel, ensuring natural drainage. The melting snow and the glaciers of the Cordillera feed a water table that provides the plants with the water they need. An essential condition in this sun-drenched land!
The Clos de Los Siete terroir also benefits from the particular climate of the Argentine highlands with very dry weather. Thanks to the wide temperature range between day and night, the berries are more concentrated in tannins and colour. In addition, the location of the vineyard, at an altitude of around 1,200 metres, is particularly favourable for the vines. The vines are carefully tended, with manual pruning and controlled yields. In addition, throughout the year, the vines benefit from a good exposure to the sun thanks to the south/south-west orientation of the vineyard.
As for the grape variety, it is made up of Malbec, the king variety of the Argentine vineyard. Other varieties add complexity to the blend, including Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
