Due to the attributes of its terroir and the careful, loving attention paid by the Dourthe family, Château Maucaillou wines achieve outstanding success. They have nothing to fear from many of the Médoc's Grands Crus Classés. On the whole, these wines are sumptuous in colour offering an aromatic power that's particularly subtle and pleasantly fruity to then reveal a well-balanced, full-bodied and generous palate. With superb length, they reveal a certain "gentleness" that's become a Château trademark along with a remarkable ability to age due to its very fine and highly present tannins. For all these reasons, Château Maucaillou is one of those rare Cru Bourgeois to have been admitted into the closed group of Bordeaux Grands Crus .
