More information about Château Margaux

If it is a privilege to bear the name of its appellation, there is no doubt that Château Margaux does it great honour. For several centuries, this First Growth has been expressing to the highest degree the exceptional qualities of the terroirs patiently brought together by several generations of owners.

Maintained and harvested exclusively by hand with extreme care, the 78 hectares of vines (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) draw their richness very deeply from a particularly dense and thick clayey-gravelly soil.

Fermentation in oak vats, after which the wine is strictly selected, is followed by 18 to 24 months of ageing in new oak barrels.

A masterpiece among Bordeaux wines, the best according to some, Château Margaux reveals finesse and opulence, depth and complexity on tasting, and develops a bouquet of a rare elegance of rose, violet and black fruit, underpinned by tight tannins that require patient ageing before blossoming.
