Anchored in the wine-growing landscape since the Middle Ages, between Thuir and Perpignan, Château Lauriga contemplates the power of Canigou and enjoys its gravelly alluvial soils. It was once part of the Abbey of Cuixa. The 68-hectare vineyard is planted with traditional grape varieties (Carignan, Grenache blanc and noir, Muscat d'Alexandrie and Petit Grain) and more recent varieties ( Syrah , Cabernet Sauvignon , Mourvèdre, Merlot ) with distinctive aromatic expressions. The Roussillon vineyard is exposed to a demanding climate: Mediterranean par excellence, with hot summers, mild autumns and winters, and rainfall concentrated in autumn and spring. Every other day, the vineyard is swept by thirteen winds, notably the Tramontane, a dry north wind that induces exceptional sanitary conditions and reduces the need for phytosanitary treatments.
