In Parnay, near Saumur, the vineyards and château overlook the Loire River. They are cultivated using organic farming methods to obtain the purest expression of the tuffeau terroir through their Saumur and Saumur-Champigny vintages. On the edge of the Parnay hillside overlooking the Loire, the Château de Targé estate rests on tuffeau bedrock, the iconic stone of our region. The plots are grouped together in the heart of the Saumur-Champigny AOC on the Parnay plateau. The clay or loamy soils are shallow and the roots quickly encounter the limestone subsoil that makes the region so magical: tuffeau. At Targé, all the plots are on tuffeau. However, the wines will differ depending on the nature of the topsoil, whether loamy or clayey, and its depth, ranging from 25 centimetres to 1 metre before reaching the bedrock.
