Its history dates back to 1238, when, according to local tradition, a Latin inscription found in the Château's cellars dates its construction to the 11th century. The legend does not say whether the first known lord, Gaillard de Gassac, was a lover of wine, but one thing is certain: the vast cellars adjoining the property still house the estate's wines today, bearing witness to an ancestral winemaking tradition.
