Situated just to the north of Saint-Estèphe, Château Calon-Ségur is one of the historic estates of the Médoc. The Marquis de Ségur also used to own Château Lafite and Château Latour. Brought to its elevated standard by the Capbern-Gasqueton family, owners for the last century, Calon-Ségur now belongs to the insurance company Suravenir. Vincent Millet, its new director, was previously at Château Margaux and his mission is to lead the wine towards increasing quality through blends that have a more pronounced Cabernet Sauvignon flavour. The wines appear amongst the most refined and consistent in the Médoc.
